NOTICE TO MEMBERS

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
6.30pm Wednesday, 9 October 2024
John Byrne Event Centre, Brothers Sports Club

All members are welcome to attend.

Business

  • Receiving the statement of income and expenditure for financial year 2023/24
  • Receiving the auditor's report for financial year 2023/24
  • Appointment of the auditor for financial year 2024/25
  • Electing members of the management committee
  • Recommendations

Nominations

Invited for the following management committee positions:

  • Vice President
  • Secretary

A nomination must be received in writing on the prescribed form no later than close of business Wednesday, 25 September 2024. Prescribed nomination forms can be attained from the Reception of Brothers Sports Club. A nomination must be accompanied by a proposer and seconder who hold voting rights.

Qualifications of nominated members for management committee positions are to be in accordance with Rules 14.2, 14.3 and 14.4 of the Constitution, which can be attained from the Reception of Brothers Sports Club.

Qualifications Required for Committee Nominations

Rule 14.2 Qualifications of Committee

  • A Voting Member for at least two consecutive years prior to nomination.
  • Ordinarily resides in Australia.
  • Not to be a paid employee of the Club.
  • Not to be a Committee Member and/or paid employee of any other club, organisation, company or body which is a recipient of grants from Brothers. Brothers Intra Clubs are an exception.
  • Completed, or have made a written commitment to complete, a Board-approved governance course. To be completed within 60 days of taking office.
  • Thoroughly read and understands the Club's governance documentation, Constitution, By-laws and Directors Code of Conduct prior to the election.

Rule 14.3 Qualifications of President

  • Only persons who have served a minimum of two (2) years within the previous five (5) years on the Committee are eligible to be nominated as President.
  • In the event there are no nominations of qualified persons fourteen (14) days prior to the AGM, a notice will be given as per section 21.1. Nominations will be accepted from any member who qualifies under section 14.2. These nominations must be received by the Secretary no later than four (4) days prior to the AGM.

Rule 14.4 Qualifications of Treasurer

  • Only persons who have understanding of accounting procedures and an ability to read and understand the Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and other financial reports, are eligible to be nominated for the position.
